IHS Partnerships
IHS collaborates with a variety of organizations based on issues of common cause. The IHS Grant Fund actively promotes the best work of other groups with direct financial support. Our Humanists.net Web hosting program provides free server space to more than 200 other groups. IHS also proudly engages both formally and informally with these established organizations that overlap with our mission:
IHS is a Specialist Member of the International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU), the worldwide humanist federation. IHS President Larry Jones is a Vice-President of the IHEU and a humanist representative at the United Nations. IHS Executive Director Matt Cherry represents IHEU and the humanist perspective at the United Nations, where he is president (and first elected humanist officer) of its NGO Committee on Freedom of Religion or Belief.
IHS is a Founding Member of the Secular Coalition for America, the new lobbying coalition for national freethought organizations in the United States. The Coalition's website is hosted by IHS's Humanists.net project and was designed by IHS staff in collaboration with the Secular Student Alliance.
IHS is an endorser of the National Day of Reason, the secular alternative to the government-sponsored National Day of Prayer. The National Day of Reason celebrates the use of reason to solve human problems and raises public awareness about the persistent threat to religious liberty posed by government intrusion into the private sphere of worship. Its website is hosted by our Humanists.net program.
IHS is a member of the New York State Coalition for Inclusive Scouting, which advocates for open membership policies in the Boy Scouts of America without regard to sexual orientation or creed.
IHS has endorsed the mission of the See Change Campaign of Catholics for a Free Choice. See Change maintains that the Roman Catholic Church should participate in the work of the United Nations under the same conditions observed by other religious organizations rather than as a civil state.
IHS was a proud co-sponsor of the March for Women's Lives, April 25, 2004 in Washington, D.C. [Report & photos»]
