The Humanist Internet Project
The Institute for Humanist Studies (IHS) prioritizes the innovative and cooperative use of Web technology to promote humanist values globally. The IHS Humanist Internet Project is a suite of websites designed to meet these goals, while also providing technical support that enables other groups to develop their own independent websites.
- The Humanist Internet Project (HIP) advances humanism through the Internet by
- promoting humanist values, beliefs, organizations, and resources to the widest possible audience
- providing community and support to humanists, skeptics, and non-religious people throughout the world
Humanist Internet Project websites include the Institute for Humanist Studies main site as well as the following:
The Continuum of Humanist Education offers humanist education in six study areas, all within the structured model of an interactive distance learning website. The COHE faculty is comprised of noted educators and activists drawn from the international humanist and skeptical communities. Courses are accessible immediately following a simple registration and enrollment procedure, at no or low cost. A humanist glossary, student message board, and auto-graded quizzes engage and connect students in fresh and stimulating ways. COHE puts humanist education within the reach of anyone, anywhere in the world, with an Internet connection.
Humanists.net is dedicated to strengthening the use of the Internet by humanists and the community of reason. Its services include free Web hosting and e-mail for humanist and related organizations and projects. More information about our Web hosting program, including space availability, is available here. [Webmaster's note: The Humanists.net program is currently full. New clients are not being accepted at this time.]
Humanist Network News (HNN) is the free e-zine of the Institute for Humanist Studies (IHS). Published most Wednesdays on our website, HNN is edited by IHS director of communications Duncan Crary.
Humanist Network News Audio Podcast is a monthly one-hour talk show created by the Institute for Humanist Studies. Every episode of the HNN Audio Podcast explores a different area of humanist thought, from politics to pop culture.
The Humanist Center is the historic Albany, N.Y. home of the Institute for Humanist Studies. The Humanist Center website offers a glimpse into the rich architectural legacy of our international headquarters. Here, too, you'll find the information you need to plan your next visit.
With the exception of sites we host for other organizations and projects, all software and site development, maintenance and administration within the Humanist Internet Project are performed by the IHS Systems Analyst. Please contact us for more information about IHS technology.
